Story of A Lighter Me

Changing your life with weight loss surgery can be a complicated, emotional ride for many — that is why we are here. Our founder Sandy Johnston successfully underwent weight loss surgery in Mexico over fifteen years ago. It was her successful weight loss experience that showed her that the process could be improved and how it would help others in her same situation. That is when A Lighter Me was founded.

Now, years later, Sandy and A Lighter Me have helped more than 10,000 people just like you navigate the medical tourism process in Mexico; these people have saved thousands of dollars and lost thousands of pounds in the process. A Lighter Me has assembled top teams of bariatric surgeons and healthcare professionals, and put together an all-inclusive, well-planned experience to ensure your success.

Our Philosophy

Our organization is dedicated to excellence in every way. We understand the weight loss surgery patient, as our staff is comprised of weight loss surgery patients. We know how difficult, confusing, and time consuming it can be to research your options and choose the best surgeon. Our bariatric surgeons have been carefully screened, are top in their field, and have a true passion for their work. We also have an entire team of experts to meet all of your needs. You will receive personal attention and our staff will continue to assist you with all your follow-up care needs through the duration of your journey.

We offer state-of-the-art hospital and top rated hotel accommodations in Mexico. Only minutes away from the U.S. border and San Diego airport, Hospital Mi Doctor is one of the newest hospitals in Mexico. We employ our own private night nurse to assist you and ensure 24-hour care during your stay at the hospital. Our goal is to provide the best surgical experience and make that experience safe and comfortable for you — at the lowest possible cost. Whether you have insurance or are self-pay, we can help you with your arrangements and ensure the best experience possible.
